MAIM was a collaboration between visual artist Gillian King and Kaja Irwin that found its inspiration from King’s abstract paintings and an assassin bug. Originally performed for King’s visual art opening at the La Petit Mort Gallery in Ottawa, MAIM was also invited to perform in the streets of Amsterdam’s Red Light District as part of the art experience Flesh Garden, presented by Guy Berubé of La Petit Mort and Mimik Magazine.
If I Should Stumble was created by Jenn Goodwin for the Toronto Outdoor Exhibition at City Hall originally performed in 2014 and remounted in the summer of 2016. Embracing the strength and vulnerability of women and set to Tanya Tagaq’s powerful song Uja, the women in this piece struggled up the outdoor stairs while Anita Nittoly consistently felt her own intensely emotional and physical rise and fall on the concrete steps.
